Director Ertuğrul Evis’s debut short film In Vino Veritas is preparing for its festival run following a private crew screening held on April 6, 2025.
Shot in Istanbul between February 10–16, 2024, In Vino Veritas recently completed its post-production process. The film was shaped with great care and over time, culminating in a preview screening at Atlas 1948 Cinema attended by the cast and crew.
Writer and director Ertuğrul Evis highlighted that the film brought together what could be considered the A-team of Turkish cinema: internationally acclaimed names such as Yücel Kurtul as color and post-production supervisor, Serhad Mutlu as editor, and Orçun Orçunsel and Emre Akdeniz as composers. Cinematography was led by Arda Çağlar Erkmen, while sound design and final mix were carried out by Can Ülgenci.
With its cyclical narrative and uncanny atmosphere, In Vino Veritas leads viewers into a journey through “rooms of memory.” In this non-linear story woven from dreams and recollections, the protagonist’s internal unraveling becomes a space of its own. As a Turkish-Japanese co-production, the film offers a poetic exploration of memory, solitude, and the fragile nature of perception.
The Story of In Vino Veritas
The film follows Basri, whose monotonous life is upended by the sudden appearance of a mysterious woman – leaving him unsure whether she was real or imagined. This fleeting encounter pulls him into a surreal narrative beyond time and space, into a solitary world shaped by obsessions, fears, and delusions.
Featuring Dila Yavuz as Fulya and Musa Can Pekcan as Basri, In Vino Veritas is currently in preparation for its international festival submissions. Recently, Tuba Büdüş from the film platform Fil’m Hafızası sat down for an interview with director Ertuğrul Evis. Once published, the interview will be available on FH’s YouTube channel.
